Volunteer Experience at Finca Noah (Fabi and Collin)

Volunteer Experience at Finca Noah (Fabi and Collin)

From donor to volunteer – a week full of heart, animals and unforgettable moments 🐾❤️

For 2.5 years now I have been regularly donating 10% of the income from my Flaffys to the Animal Police on Mallorca. 🐾

At some point it was clear to us: we no longer wanted to know the finca only from pictures. We wanted to see for ourselves where our support ends up, get to know the people behind this incredible work and, of course, meet all the animals we had only seen from afar until then.

So it was time to pack our bags, head to Mallorca and dive into the adventure! 🇪🇸☀️

And what can we say? Our expectations were exceeded by far.

As soon as we arrived, we quickly realised how much work is done here every single day. Farah told us several times: “It's a lot of work, and it's hard work.” And yes – it is. But after being allowed to help out for a few days ourselves, we understood that this work can't really be put into words at all.

Because it is so much more than “hard work”.

It is attention to detail. It is responsibility. It is care. It is self-sacrifice. It is passion. And above all, it is unconditional love for the animals. ❤️

Farah places enormous importance on cleanliness and on the animals being well. And that is exactly what you feel and see everywhere on the finca. The animals are treated with so much heart, and every single one has its very own character and its very own story.

Nadine and Juan have also become incredibly dear to us. It was wonderful to watch how much love and respect they show the animals. 🥰

And then, of course, there were all the residents of the finca, big and small…

Jumpy, Aixa, Jack, Harley, Avalon, Mischon, Roswita, Puma, Fritz, Frau Meier and so many others secured a place in our hearts in no time at all. 🥹🐾

Those exuberant greetings every morning.

The parrots knocking on the window pane as soon as there is food. 🦜😂

Jumpy, racing around in his little wheelchair full of zest for life – and, naturally, happily running over feet or tails along the way. 😂🐶

And of course the rooster, who is apparently convinced that 2 a.m. is an absolutely perfect time to ring in the day. 🐓😂

And then there is Farah's legendary “Ine cho!” (Swiss German for “come in!”) – and within seconds every single dog runs to her. A sight we will probably never forget. 🥹❤️

But it is not only the animals we will miss. The personal conversations, the shared laughter, the encounters and the wonderful people on the finca made this time truly special as well.

We were warmly welcomed as volunteers and quickly got to experience that every helping hand really is needed here. And yes, the work can be exhausting. Very much so. But that is exactly what made us understand even better what lies behind this finca.

It is not simply a place where animals are housed.

It is a home. A second chance. A place full of heart. ❤️🐾

We are incredibly grateful that we were able to have this experience. For the time, for the trust, for all the conversations, for the many cuddles and, of course, for every single animal resident who left a piece of their heart with us.

All these little moments – from the morning welcoming committee to parrots at the window pane and a little dog in a wheelchair going through life at full throttle – we will keep in our hearts forever. 🥹❤️

Thank you, Farah, Nadine, Juan and the whole Animal Police team, for your incredible work.

And thank you to all the animals who made these days so special.

We'll be back. That is not a threat. 😂❤️🐾
