FEBRUARY 2025

Dear Readers,

Another month has flown by, which means you're getting fresh news from Mallorca again.

A Quick Look Back

In January, I reported with great enthusiasm that our year started brilliantly, and we were full of hope it would continue that way. Little cheeky Chihuahua Herkules, whom we managed to rescue from terrible breeding conditions, quickly found his family and was able to fly to Germany. On the same day, the beautiful cat Seda was able to travel to her forever home on the same plane as Herkules. With water dog Lillie, things went very well with her family and getting to know each other. However, after a short time it turned out that Lillie was not spayed as stated by the previous owner. Spaying is of course very important to us animal welfare advocates β€” it's mandatory for all our animals. For us as a serious animal welfare organization, it was a very uncomfortable situation to learn that we had placed an unspayed female dog. The new family is so happy with Lillie that this isn't a problem for them. We could only apologize and, of course, arrange the spaying afterward. Lillie will now be spayed by our dear veterinarian Jann in Switzerland.

A Heartbreaker on Four Paws

We hoped adoptions would continue at this pace so we could take in more animals that desperately need help. Hope briefly returned when we received confirmation of an adoption for little Border Collie mix Coco. Coco came to us in December. A clever rascal through and through. He was with a family and his sister. This time we can't say he had a bad home, nor was he mistreated or handled badly. Actually quite the opposite. They simply didn't have the time to give him what he needed, so they looked for a new place for him. This is animal welfare too. When you realize you can't meet an animal's needs, making a sensible decision instead of letting the animal suffer, punishing it, or worse, thoughtlessly dumping or abandoning it in a shelter β€” that matters.

Coco won Farah's heart in a heartbeat and was to have his chance with us to be socialized within a pack.

After a visit to us at Finca Noah, Manuela experienced some very emotional days. She also immediately took Coco into her heart. The decision to offer Coco a home in Switzerland was a matter of the heart. Both embraced the challenge and new adventure with great joy. Once in Switzerland, it was straight to the shops. The little Coco wasn't used to the cold, so a winter coat was needed β€” one he happily put on without any fuss after a short time. The joy was enormous on all sides. But then came the news that Manuela's health wasn't doing well. It became increasingly difficult for her to care for the little whirlwind. At first the family helped out, but that was only a temporary solution. Manuela had to reluctantly return Coco to Finca Noah in Mallorca. The only one completely unbothered by all this back and forth? Little whirlwind Coco himself. For a few weeks now he's been back in our pack as if he'd always belonged. A clever little guy with plenty of tricks up his sleeve. His affectionate, sensitive, and cuddly moments balance out his tireless energy. So Coco stays with us until we find the perfect family for him this time. And who knows, maybe Finca Noah is his forever home and Farah is his new mama. To be honest, Farah is already quite smitten with the little guy....

Welcome Back

I introduced you to the dear but challenging Pastor MallorquΓn mix Mischon in the July 2024 newsletter. Her story, with what seemed like a happy ending β€” some of you might remember, or you can quickly pop over to our homepage and read it again. After two years in a kennel, she was adopted by wonderful friends who wanted to give her a chance at a new life. We all knew it wouldn't be easy. Still, the two of them turned their lives upside down for Mischon, worked with her and a dog trainer. Things improved; Mischon learned something new each time, and the way they handled her got better. Unfortunately, the joy didn't last long. Mischon fell back into her old patterns, and everyday life with her became increasingly exhausting. The impressions and influences she encountered on walks were simply too much for a dog like her. In her familiar environment, at home with the family, Mischon is a loving, very attached, cuddly, and playful girl. But the fast-paced world outside her familiar surroundings was too big a challenge for Mischon and her anxieties. For both human and animal. It really wasn't an easy decision, but we brought Mischon back to us after 6 months. We're not blaming anyone β€” here too, action was taken promptly and a solution was sought that we hope will be best for Mischon. The new family, Nisha and Thorsten, will remain her mama and papa. They've taken on Mischon's sponsorship and are working hard on a solution so that Mischon can be with them, just not in Switzerland. Until then, she's simply on holiday at Finca Noah. So it remains exciting and emotional at the same time. We'll support them wherever we're needed so the family can come back together soon. Little Mischon is sorely missed.

New Sponsorships Section on Our Homepage

When an adoption isn't always possible, you can also support our animals through a sponsorship. Do check out our homepage's newly designed Sponsorships section. Our wonderful animals have put themselves in the best light for you and gave their all for the perfect photo, because now the animals introduce themselves "personally." Anyone who wants to take on a sponsorship mainly supports their sponsored animal for food and veterinary costs, which add up to a considerable sum each month. With over 250 animals, it all adds up quickly. You can of course give your sponsored animal a name if one hasn't been assigned yet. A sponsorship with us doesn't just exist on paper β€” we'll make it as personal as possible. We're very happy to send regular updates, photos, and videos of your sponsored animal if that's what you'd like. A wonderful artist, Julia Filk, provided hand-painted artwork for auction at the Salto Fundraising Gala in November 2024 in support of Animal Police's animals. This time she was creative again and is supporting the Sponsorships project. She created a hand-painted, exclusive, one-of-a-kind sponsorship certificate that we think is absolutely amazing. Featuring the original animals of Finca Noah. You have every reason to be excited. Brian will be happy to add the link to our homepage and the Sponsorships section so that with just a few clicks (after you've finished reading this newsletter) you can choose your sponsored animal.

I'd like to briefly mention that Brian isn't just the Vice President and Co-Founder of Animal Police, but also our IT specialist. He designed the homepage and sends this newsletter to you readers every month.
