JUNE 2020

June was a huge success for Animal Police! We were able to help so many animals and our Finca Noah has made tremendous progress! We're thrilled to share this wonderful month with you.

FINCA NOAH

We're absolutely delighted to announce that Finca Noah is finally complete! What a success β€” in such a short time, we couldn't even have imagined it in our wildest dreams. The animals now finally have their well-deserved paradise and can feel even more at home, simply enjoying their lives. The entire association is overjoyed and incredibly proud of our president Farah, who for the past 5 months has worked day and night without a single day off, investing her whole heart and above all her time. THANK YOU to all the helping hands, encouraging words, and all donors who have made such a beautiful place possible for the animals! Without you, none of this would have been possible. Our big dream has come true β€” unbelievable! We still can't believe it and we're looking forward to welcoming many visitors to Finca Noah once the borders reopen!

FACE MASKS

We're deeply grateful to Sandra Peter for an incredibly wonderful partnership. Sandra has created face masks with the Animal Police logo, perfectly suited to these special times. WE'RE THRILLED!

The masks are washable at 60 degrees and therefore reusable multiple times. You're welcome to order Animal Police face masks from us for EUR 15.00.

100% of the proceeds from the sold masks go to animal welfare.

Support Animal Police Association and order the beautiful face masks now: karin@animalpolice.ch. We thank you and look forward to your support!

FOOD DONATIONS

Once again, Animal Police has received an incredible donation from Qualipet Switzerland. The animal welfare advocates and animals on the island of Mallorca danced with joy when Farah announced once again that people could pick up food for needy animals at Finca Noah in exchange for a small donation of 20 euros to cover transport and customs costs, as well as German fees. Credit goes to Qualipet Switzerland, which is supporting us for the second time. We're infinitely grateful that we can help so many animals with this food donation and don't even know how to put our thanks into words.

But the work doesn't end with the donation alone. The 33 pallets still had to get from Switzerland to the island of Mallorca β€” and again during the COVID crisis. The transport companies TRANSCO and WURZER made it possible. The 33 pallets of food arrived at Finca Noah within just a few days and Farah was once again speechless β€” and that says something! We're simply infinitely grateful for this incredible support and thank Qualipet Switzerland, TRANSCO, and WURZER from the bottom of our hearts!

FERDINANDO THE BULL

Animal Police was able to welcome a new family member β€” Ferdinando. The Animal Police family has already fallen head over heels in love with the bull and is so happy that he can now fully enjoy his life with Joke.

The story began when Elis messaged Farah, reporting that she rides her bicycle past a bull every day. The bull was in a terrible situation: he was held on a very short chain that had gotten caught in the scoop of a tractor, so he wasn't even able to lift his head. He received neither water nor food, and this in the blazing sun. Elis asked Farah for immediate help. Farah didn't need to be asked twice and drove to the agreed meeting point in Montuiri. Upon arrival at the location, the bull's situation was first assessed and within seconds led to a shocking and disturbing discovery: the chain was apparently placed on the animal as a calf and never adjusted again, so it had grown into his head as the bull grew. Upon closer inspection, the animal welfare advocates could see that the chain had actually grown about 3-4 cm into his head.

The next day, Farah visited the bull at the farm again and shouted as loudly as she could to lure the owner out of his neglected farm. After about 30 minutes, he finally came out and asked what the problem was. When Farah described the situation, he didn't want to understand the animal's dire condition and claimed the animal was fine. However, Farah insisted that the bull get water and offered her help to care for the animal together. With great difficulty and the help of Maxi Lange, the animal welfare advocates were able to explain to the owner that the animal was not being kept in an appropriate manner and that this caused the bull great suffering.

But the disaster had only just begun! In the heat of the moment, the owner decided to remove the chain if that's what they wanted and suddenly drove off with the tractor, ripping the chain out of the bull's head. The wound bled as if there was no tomorrow and the bull didn't know what was happening and suffered unbearably. The pain he had to endure, we can't even imagine….

Following that, a veterinarian was called who sadly wasn't much help, only warning what a dangerous animal Ferdinando was and that he should be put down… Fortunately, another veterinarian came to help us! The bull was anesthetized to remove the remaining pieces of the chain. However, the veterinarian also turned out to be a disaster when he yanked out the rest of the chain, which had grown into the bull's flesh, in one pull, and then even called the poor animal a "murderer". The disaster continued and the police and other people from the area got involved. Unfortunately, not in our favor β€” they made fun of the idea of caring for the bull, as he was doing fine anyway. Finally, the owner spoke up again and said that for EUR 500.00, the animal welfare advocates could take the bull. As you know Farah, she immediately ran to the nearest bank and withdrew the money to buy Ferdinando out. The police officer drew up a document stating that this bull is now the property of Animal Police Association, and since then we have been proud owners of the bull we named Ferdinando.

Jose and a veterinarian he trusted came to help at just the right moment. Jose examined the wound, cared for the poor bull, and arranged the loading for transport. Joke had agreed to take Ferdinando in until his injuries heal well. Thank you Joke for your big heart!

Ferdinando has won a large fan base through Animal Police, who are helping us care for him and obtain the necessary medications. HEARTFELT THANKS at this point for the wonderful support and to all helpers!

Now Animal Police is working to obtain all important papers for our Ferdinando so that he can soon go to a beautiful and well-deserved home. Our dream is for him to enjoy his bull life on a beautiful farm together with his own family. We'll be happy to report in the next newsletter on how Ferdinando is doing.

Since Ferdinando is no small creature and eats quite a bit of feed, we continue to rely on donations and support to fulfill all his needs. We, but especially Ferdinando, would be thrilled to receive donation contributions with the note "Ferdinando" and we thank you in advance for your big heart for animals!

UPLIFTING ARRIVALS

FROM Martina, an animal welfare advocate on Mallorca, we've taken in a drake with a mother duck and three little ducklings, as well as a hen with her 10 chicks. These fit perfectly with our Finca Noah because they're all white. :) We're thrilled about the new additions to the Animal Police family and the birds bring us a fresh breeze and lots of joy.

Warmest regards
The Animal Police Team
