MARCH 2020

At the beginning of March, the world still seemed to be in order…

…then we suddenly received the shocking news about the extent of COVID-19.
Overnight, life changed — for us too — on the beautiful island of Mallorca.

Within 24 hours, a lockdown was imposed. For us animal welfare advocates, this means we can no longer care for our animals as usual.
For example, the private cat colonies are now only fed twice a week instead of daily. (As of March 30, 2020)
This regulation is keeping not only us animal welfare advocates awake at night.

Even for the local Mallorcans, regularly feeding their animals on external fincas/fields is now forbidden. As of today, it has unfortunately become public that there is no certainty that pets cannot transmit the virus.
Consequently, animals on their external fincas/fields are left to their fate.
We really don't have words for this!
At the beginning of March, Animal Police was able to rescue 3 little lambs. These were supposed to be eaten at a celebration.
Completely emaciated, we took in the 3 lambs. Sadly, 2 of the little lambs didn't survive the effects of starvation.
Little Paul — whom we call POI — made it and delights us every day with his baby charm. (see pictures)

We want and must somehow continue — we constantly receive emergency calls that we cannot respond to due to this lockdown. The fines here range from €600 – €30,000. No animal welfare advocate can bear this financial risk.

We are trying to continue activating our neighborhood network so that we can help one animal or another.

NOW IS THE TIME WHEN IT IS MORE THAN IMPORTANT TO HELP TOGETHER!

It touches our hearts at Finca Noah too. We can no longer manage our daily routines here as usual, because neither our volunteer helpers nor our connected friends are allowed to help anymore.

Of course, we understand the current situation of people, but especially in these difficult times, we must not forget the weakest link in the chain — the animal.
We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all our donors.
Through your support, we would continue to be able to make the impossible possible.
Together we will also master this difficult time!

A special gift was given to us by the company QUALIPET from Bern, as they secured the food supply for our animals for the coming time. For us, it is self-evident that we will supply the entire island with this donated food.

Now it is up to us to organize and finance the necessary food transport OF 16 FLOOR PALLETS from Switzerland to Mallorca!
WILL YOU HELP US? It would be so important!!!

buy'N'help – Shop and do good

We are very pleased to be able to tell you that we are now registered with buy'n'help. In the following video, it explains how you can easily and free of charge support our association by simply ordering the things you would buy anyway through buy'n'help.

THANK YOU TO ALL DONORS

First of all, we want to thank all our donors from the bottom of our hearts!
Above all, we are infinitely grateful to you for not forgetting us in times like these. We appreciate this immensely and our animals are of course incredibly grateful! Without you, Animal Police would not exist and we would never have the chance to continue fighting for the animals, come what may. Together we are strong and overcome every crisis! Long live animal lovers! A THOUSAND THANKS!

RESCUE MISSION FOR THREE SHEEP

At the beginning of March, before the crisis time, Animal Police was able to rescue three sheep. The poor creatures were advertised as a feast and were already near the end of their lives. Animal Police fortunately managed to rescue the three at the last minute. One was sadly gravely ill and was able to go directly to Marlene for care. We thank Marlene for taking in the poor sheep and nursing it back to health.

The sweet Poi (short for Paul) gets to enjoy his life at Finca Noah and is over the moon with us. He has already become best friends with the German Shepherd Eloy and gets to go on a long walk with him every day.

P.S.

In light of current events, we will explain the important function of flight sponsorship in the coming days. Once air traffic opens up again, your HELP in the form of a flight sponsorship for the animals would be vital!

Warmly yours
The Animal Police Team
