OCTOBER 2020

This month written by Farah herself again.

Wow, October already ….. we're heading towards winter and the poor animals here on the island really have nothing to laugh about.

When I wake up in the morning, everything outside is wet and cold from the dew. This moisture here on the island doesn't just get into people's bones, but into the animals' as well.

We are working on preparations for the enclosures, which need to be made winter-ready again. Fortunately, I already bought Plexiglas sheeting at the beginning of the year, which we are now attaching to the enclosures so that the cold, rain, and moisture can't penetrate too harshly into the dog and cat enclosures.

It breaks my heart when I think of the dogs that locals simply chain up, sometimes to a tree with chains no longer than 2 metres, and leave to the mercy of winter. Many of these poor animals don't even have a roof over their heads and are exposed to every kind of weather.

What can I do to put an end to this suffering? Free all the dogs? Explain to people that this is no way to keep a dog? Buy the dogs shelters and warm blankets? What should we do to give these animals a winter that would be bearable for them? This month I really suffered.

Aixa the Black Mare

A kind German woman asked me for help regarding a mare that was so emaciated she could barely stand. I didn't hesitate for a second and drove my car to the location she had sent me. I thought I would be knocked over when I saw this poor mare in front of me. Emaciated to the bone and with a look that screamed only for food. We weren't even on site for 10 minutes when the owner came out and tried to kick me off her property. That's when I "saw red," gave her a friendly look and told her: she had 2 options, either I call Seprona right now (the animal police on the Balearic Islands) or I take the poor animal to Finca Noah at our expense. After a long back and forth, she gave me written consent to take the mare to us for at least 3 months.

For 3 days I did everything in our power for the lovely Aixa and suddenly the owner showed up again with a police threat. She wanted the mare back at her home and now knew that she had made a mistake and that she could now take care of feeding her. And just like that, the lovely mare was gone from Finca Noah. Unfortunately, this is the law — that the owner can reclaim the animal even after written consent, especially when it wasn't even microchipped. I keep trying to visit Aixa and have promised her very firmly that I won't forget her and will look after her. After such a short time, just 3 whole days, and I had already fallen in love with the lovely mare and had to let her go.

I promise you that I will continue to look after Aixa and keep you updated.

Rabbits, You're Getting a Paradise on Earth!

We are in the middle of construction for the rabbits, the sheep: Josef, Maria, and Jesus, as well as our deer, Coco.

For the rabbits we are building an enclosure of a whopping 200 square metres. The 3 little sheep will get, together with Coco, a full 3,000 square metres of space. They can really let loose and will certainly have an amazing life with us. We are trying to finance all of this with donations, which are incredibly important to us. You are welcome to continue supporting us for this big project, the enclosure! In 10 days it should be finished, so our animals can finally move in. I'll be happy to make a video for you when it opens.

Donna, the Boss & Leona

This month too, we've been able to rescue many animals. From terrible living conditions and animals that were abused and beaten daily.

Donna and Her Puppies

Now all 11 of our puppies, including their mother "Donna," are with their families.

The Boss

Only the Boss is still with us at Finca Noah, waiting until he can finally fly. The last of them all gets to go to the Swiss mountains to St. Moritz.

We are all excited that the Boss has finally found his home. I'm sure the Boss is wondering what this is all about, having to go to these icy temperatures. Safe travels, my darling, you're going to love the snow! J

Leona Our Soul Dog

Leona is officially in heaven…… But only officially……

She is to enjoy it for a long time and be able to live her life as best she can with the lovely Silke!

So, another month full of emotions has passed and I'm already looking forward to next month and curious to see what animals it will bring.

Warm regards

Your Farah
